03. Getting Started with WooCommerce & Memberships
MemberSync sells and manages access through WooCommerce and its membership extensions. This page introduces the pieces MemberSync builds on; it isn't a setup guide for those plugins — follow their own documentation for that.
The plugins MemberSync builds on
- WooCommerce — your store. MemberSync adds product options so a product can sell a license or an organization.
- WooCommerce Memberships — membership plans. MemberSync adds Course Enrolment and Group Enrolment rules to a plan, so gaining or losing the membership grants or removes LearnDash access.
- Teams for WooCommerce Memberships — team memberships, where one buyer provisions membership for many people. MemberSync can mirror a team into a LearnDash group.
- WooCommerce Subscriptions — recurring billing. Used when you sell licenses on a subscription.
How the pieces fit together
MemberSync connects a purchase to LearnDash access in two ways:
- Through a membership plan — a customer buys or is granted a membership, and its Course Enrolment rules enroll them in the associated courses.
- Through a license or organization product — a customer buys a MemberSync license (or seats for an organization), and that grants LearnDash access directly.
You can use either or both. Which you choose depends on whether you're selling to individuals or to organizations, and whether access is tied to an ongoing membership or a purchased license.
