02. Getting Started with LearnDash
MemberSync grants and removes access to LearnDash content — so LearnDash is where your courses live, and MemberSync decides who can reach them.
This page orients you; it isn't a LearnDash setup guide. For installing LearnDash and building courses, follow LearnDash's own documentation.
What LearnDash provides
- Courses, lessons, topics, and quizzes — the learning content learners work through.
- Course categories — groupings you can target when granting access (for example, "grant access to every course in the Creative category").
- Groups — collections of users a group leader manages. MemberSync can keep LearnDash groups in step with WooCommerce teams.
MemberSync works with the content you already have in LearnDash. When it grants access, it enrolls the learner in the relevant course; when access ends, it removes that enrolment — unless the learner still holds access another way.
Before you continue
- Install and activate LearnDash, and create at least one course. (See the LearnDash documentation.)
- Use a closed course when testing MemberSync. Free or open courses are accessible to everyone regardless of membership or license, so an access grant has no visible effect.
